Dr. Steve Kaftel is a Specialist Physician who qualified from the University of the Witwatersrand in 2019. He has dedicated the last 14 years to training at Chris Hani Baragwanath, Helen Joseph, Charlotte Maxeke, Donny Gordon, and Edenvale Hospitals.
Doctor Steve prides himself on quality patient care, compassion, kindness and going the extra mile in making sure his patient's needs are met. Doctor Steve has a Masters in Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease and as such has a special interest in smoking and it’s related health consequences. His other interests include Diabetes, Infectious Diseases, Pulmonology Rheumatology, Acute, and Critical Care Medicine, as well as Preoperative Medical Assessments.
Doctor Steve’s accolades include being Head Prefect in primary and high school, finishing in the Top 50 IEB matriculants in South Africa with 7 distinctions and various other academic awards, The Golden Key International Honours Society for Academic Achievements at Wits Medical School, Intern of the year at Chris Hani Baragwanath in 2012, Certificate of Excellence for Internal Medicine in 2018 for a presentation entitled “A Curious Case of Dyspnea”, and most recently becoming a Fellow of the College of Physicians of South Africa.
Doctor Steve has an unwavering dedication to his patients, and he is constantly available via phone, WhatsApp, and email. He enjoys collaborating with GPs and other medical specialists to ensure holistic patient care and is always willing to sit down with families to discuss their medical conditions clearly.
